Vanguard Tactics: Powered by Partnership
The brilliant team at Vanguard Tactics provide expert online coaching in the art of playing Warhammer 40K, a tabletop war game loved by millions. When it was time to level up their business model, they brought us in for digital support. Together, we worked on everything from strategy and product design to branding and digital marketing – we even presented on their Youtube channel! Safe to say, it was a wild – and super successful! – ride, so much so that it inspired our very own Integrator service.

The challenge: Growing digital success
Vanguard Tactics wanted to grow their online business. They could see the opportunity and had the expertise, but needed extra digital resource to make it happen. And that’s where Originate stepped in. As a self-confessed Warhammer geek with expertise in business strategy, product design and digital marketing, Aaron, our Founder, was a natural fit.

The solution: Full integration
Every Integrator we work on is different. With Vanguard Tactics, it started, as all good stories should, with a mega all-day brainstorming session in Starbucks. That strategy quickly turned into a fully formed plan and the evolution of almost every digital element of the Vanguard business. It was transformative, and the results speak for themselves:
STEP 1.
Strategy, discovery + planning
That first all-day strategy session was pivotal. Using FigJam (an online whiteboarding tool), we explored buyer personas, pain points and tone of voice. We mapped out a new value ladder and combined it with the traditional marketing funnel. We used AI to draft landing pages and squeeze pages. We looked at every part of the business from every different angle. It was intense. And by the end of that first day, we had a plan complete with KPIs and timescales – and we were ready to deliver.






STEP 2.
Brand, website + product
Together, we updated Vanguard Tactics’ visual identity and transformed the website to provide frictionless routes to sale. We also created the digital elements for each product, zoning in on adding value and exceeding customer expectations.





STEP 3.
Day-to-day Marketing
We tried and tested multiple marketing tactics to attract, convert and retain customers. And it worked. Month after month, we exceeded those all-important KPIs.
